Top 10
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Tips
1. Newsletters and
articles. Offer articles in your
specialty to e-magazine publishers. The links stay in many
archives for years.
2. More than one
domain. Enhance your Search
Engine Optimization by owning multiple domain names,
especially if you have a range of topics. Often, you can get
more directory listings by having more domains.
3. Articles.
Similar to link exchanges - only much more powerful -
compatible, reciprocal articles are excellent for SEO. Sites
referring good content between each other, giving and receiving
high-quality links, can be of tremendous help with your Search
Engine Optimization.
4. Link titles.
A top SEO tip is to title links using keywords and phrases as
some search engines figure this into their relevancy for a page.
5. Site map.
Large sites need a site map, linked to and from every page on
the site. A site map is an excellent SEO tool. It enables search
engine spiders to crawl through every page in two clicks.
6. Be bold.
Use the tags around some of your keywords on each page. Do NOT
use them everywhere as this might undermine your Search Engine
Optimization efforts.
7.
Deep linking. Ensure as many
quality inbound links (those that point to your site) as
possible. It will indicate to the search engine that you have
plenty of worthwhile content. Avoid having links directed just
to the home page, which can suggest that the value of the site
content is largely superficial, or that your links were
generated automatically.
8. Emigrate.
Look at Search Engine Optimization internationally. There are
many directories for websites based in other English language
countries, the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa. Could you
use a business address in any of those countries?
9. Get text in
there first. Another useful SEO
tip is to make sure text links show up before image links in the
source code. This is important because search engine spiders
follow the first link they find to any particular page. They
won't follow additional links to the same page.
10. Not too much
anchor text. When applying your
Search Engine Optimization, don't add too much anchor text. It
can look like automation. You don't want all your inbound links
to look the same - something Google in particular frowns upon.
Use your URL sometimes and your company name other times.
