Rescue Dogs

Nobody's Dog was brought into the shelter today. The coat that may once have been a glossy black and red was now brittle and bedraggled; the result of a sparse diet and fleas. The spark that ignited his eyes so many years ago, now deadened by years of callous neglect.
Maybe Nobody's Dog had come from a family too busy to notice; too wrapped-up in their own lives to see what he had become.
Or perhaps Nobody's Dog had been someone's junkyard guardian, left to his own devices as he patrolled the perimeter of his master's property with no one to share his long days and nights.

The ramshackle box that served as his only home had grown weary with age, as had he.
Nobody's Dog tried hard to escape the kennels at the shelter when the other German Shepherds (their young bodies in better shape and therefore,  deemed more "adoptable") were chosen to go home. He was repeatedly led back to his prison, watching the others, who one by one went to rescues to find them homes.

See, nobody wants Nobody's Dog. He is broken, in spirit and in body. People cannot see beyond the filthy coat, the sad eyes and graying muzzle. Most rescues operate on a wing and a prayer, and while there are a very few who can commit to Nobody's Dog, they need our help.
Last night, Nobody's Dog found his Guardian Angel, because of donations from people like you. Last Hope, Safe Haven stepped in and offered him sanctuary.

Nobody's Dog went to the vet today. He was given blood tests, vaccinations, a bath and Capstar for his fleas. He will soon know what it is to be cherished for the gift he is to this world.
By the way, Nobody's Dog
has a name now, it's Ranger. We can only hope that we can light the fire that once burned in his eyes....and heal his broken soul.
