To the editor:

Very nice article on Jim and Sheree - wonderful people!  Years ago, when my daughter first started learning to handle German Shepherd Dogs - shortly after we watched Jimmy and Hatter go BIS at Westminster (that got us involved in GSDs to start with) - she was often in the same ring as Jim. He was incredible and generous, he would give her little pointers and advice. She would come out and say "Mom, he talked to me!" Rachel was 10 years old.  She was so in awe of him and because of his kindness to her she became a confident handler.  Thanks Jimmy!

Sincerely,

Sindy Schalon

To the editor:

I wanted to say that I really enjoyed the interview this month on Christine and Steve.

When I first switched to the American bred German Shepherd, from European working line, I often encountered people who were less than helpful and borderline rude and obnoxious.  It’s a memorable experience and I can understand why the new people get turned off in a hurry.

But from the first time I talked to Christine, she was very patient and just the nicest person someone wanting to learn, could ask for.  She was down to earth and would help me see the good and the bad of any situation or dog that came up.  I could tell right off that Steve and Christine did not feel insecure about themselves and their dogs and unlike most people
who don’t want you to learn, lest you become a threat, they were just the opposite. I am lucky to have met them when I first got started or things may be different for me now.  I still consider them one of my mentors
in the breed and look forward to many more years of friendship with them.

Sincerely,

Anita Rabidou-Milligan
