Message from the Editor

A sense of humor, and especially having the ability to laugh at oneself, are among the most powerful tools there are in negotiating the trials of our far from perfect human existence. Ed Barritt is a free spirit who exemplifies these qualities.

Because Ed exudes such inner peace and self-confidence, we thought it would be fun to “Roast” him. Because Ed is so well-respected among the Fancy, he was asked to judge this year’s National.  Given this, we thought the timing of this roast was perfect.

Anyone who has participated in a roast understands that the best “roasters” are those who have deep admiration for the person whom they are roasting - great friends being the best choices. The nature of a “roast” is such that the best jokes are those that approach that hard to find “line that shouldn’t be crossed” but do not go over it. 

There are those who believe we did cross that line. We are still trying to determine the motives of the few who have been especially active in criticizing our attempt at good humor. As this process unfolds, please understand we graciously apologize to anyone who may sincerely have been offended. If you are wondering whether Ed was offended, please ask him.
